What Are Headed Shear Studs?

A headed shear stud is a cold-headed steel fastener with an enlarged circular head, welded directly to a steel beam or plate through the arc stud welding process. The head geometry locks into the surrounding concrete once the slab is poured, creating a mechanical interlock that transfers shear force between the steel section and the concrete deck.
